I'm so sorry for the loss of your Onyx, qster. I know the terrible pain you must still be feeling.
I'm glad you posted, it makes me feel great when this thread is revisited... ![]() I think Benny was a Pit/Rott X. He had the personality and look of a pit, but the stockiness and body frame of a rott. That's my best guess. Hang in there. It never goes away, but it does get easier... ![]()

What a beautiful tribute to your boy. I love the pics of him on the deck with his paws crossed. What a wonderful life you gave him, I can see the love and happiness in his eyes.

What an excellent story.
I know what you're going through day to day. Reminds me of my Charlie boy. And I know what you mean about him being "your king". I had Roxy during the same time, but Charlie was my first guy and we did everything together, I worked 3rd shist at tghe time so we were always together. Sorry for your loss. Kepp thinking about the good memories. |

That is a beautiful tribute for your boy. It is one month today that my Zoe passed and I miss her every day, she was only 10. Like Benny, it was too soon.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I love reading stories like this. It gives me comfort to know that I'm certainly not the only one who still mourns, and always will, the loss of my doggie soul mate.
He was such a beautiful boy - the picture with his legs crossed is my favorite.

Thank you Denise for sharing your sorrow with us. And I know you're also sharing & celebrating your joy in your boy with us as well .
When I was 2 my parents left me with my babysitter in Italy who had a dog GSD they said was part European wolf, named Lupo. They didn't come back for 6 years, and my 1rst heart dog, Lupo helped me through those heartbreak years. He was always at my side. My 2nd heart dog was, I swear, his re-incarnation. I named him Lupo too. He was a gentle giant wolf/hybrid. When Lupo (II) and I walked he'd often get a little ahead of me, (he never wandered so he could be off leash in our woods and stayed with me. (had to protect me). When I lagged, he'd sit and look back at me & wait for me to catch up. When he died I told him he was just getting a little ahead of me again, and that I'd catch up with him soon. In the face of eternity our lives are just an interval. I'm not eager for that last journey yet but how good his head will feel on my lap again, and his weight leaning against my legs. |

You never forget that special friend. Mine was the first dog my family got - a german shepard/beagle mix. Happy was the best and other dogs have come and gone but Happy will forever be the dog who made me happy.

A wonderful tribute! And people are still reading it after all this time. A lot of us had that special soulmate. Mine was Sasha.
